Communications and Information Products

Communications and information products focus on transforming knowledge, evidence, research, and technical information into clear, accessible, and actionable resources for the people who need them. This includes policy briefs, fact sheets, guidelines, reports, infographics, videos, stories, toolkits, and other products that help communicate complex issues in ways that are relevant to policymakers, practitioners, fishing communities, and other stakeholders across the Caribbean.

In the Caribbean blue economy, having knowledge is only part of the challenge. That knowledge must also reach the right people, in the right format, and at the right time. Scientific findings, fisheries data, policy decisions, and lessons from communities can have limited impact when they remain buried in technical reports or are communicated in ways that are difficult to understand or access. Effective communication bridges that gap by translating evidence into practical information that supports better decisions, strengthens public awareness, and enables communities and institutions to act.

This thematic area brings together the information products and communication approaches that help make Caribbean fisheries, aquaculture, and blue economy knowledge more visible, understandable, and useful. It promotes communication that is inclusive and audience-centred, recognising the importance of reaching different groups through appropriate formats, languages, channels, and levels of technical detail. By connecting evidence with the people who can use it, effective communication helps ensure that knowledge does not simply exist—it is understood, shared, and put into action.
